Radio Pink Flamingo vs Melting Pot

radiorcrop1.png

Two new radio programs debuted last saturday on Urgent.fm, and this time we were all on time and ready to go. (Check the post for what went wrong last week.)

To our surprise there were new microphones installed in the studio and a new twin cd-player in the control room. Nice… we just got used to the old ones.

island.jpg First up was Radio Pink Flamingo with Inspector Clay behind the microphone and Ron Johnson (with assistance from Mr T) behind the mixing desk. It all went reasonable well; we didn’t make to many mistakes. The reactions were positive from the Urgent.fm colleagues as well as from listeners.

A podcast of the first show will soon be posted on the Pink Flamingo site. Here is the playlist of the show:

The next hour there was the Melting Pot program in a new format. The show debuted in 2004. It has always been a mix show, hand picked and composed by TFonque. But now Melting Pot has a host. Ron Johnson joined TFonque behind the microphone for the first time live on-air.
The show went down smooth. Ron Johnson and TFonque will have to iron out some rough edges, but the cooperation worked.

A podcast of the show will be posted soon. When it is available for download I will post it on this weblog. For now, here is the playlist;

Radio Pink Flamingo Noshow

Unexpected things happen when you least expect it. Last saturday there was the launch of a new radio show on Urgent.fm, called Radio Pink Flamingo.

komtiewel
Inspector Clay and Ron Johnson were not in the least nervous, as you can see on the picture above…

tochniet

Our trainer and teacher Mister T-Fongue (and the guy with the key to the building) had gone out the night before. He had gone to the R*S*T music to play with! festival in Brussels. It was a fine line-up indeed. There were sets by Amon Tobin, Luke Vibert, Dntal, Modeselector and many more. To cut a long story short T-Fonque did not make it on time.

And now the good news. On saturday September 22 from 18.00 Radio Pink Flamingo will go live on air. You can receive Urgent.fm on 105.3 if you live in Ghent. Or you can visit the Urgent website to listen to the live-stream. The best choice is to visit The Pink Flamingo’s bar and enjoy the show there.

Mania Gent Returns

beware
Last April one of the best record stores in Belgium closed its doors. Its closing was sad news for its costumers and a lot of weblogs wrote articles about it. See here, and here (both in Dutch). Many record buyers were astonished by the news as you can read in the comments of the posts.

mania returns But a month ago a message appeared on the music mania site. And last week there was even more news. Dropping the Music in their name, the Mania Gent will reopen with a clear-out sale that will begin shortly. You are advised to send an e-mail to be kept informed of further news.
