Look what dropped in my mailbox today. The legendary Music Mania shop moves to another place!

Hello Music Maniacs,

Once more at the Music Mania, we’re throwing the bargains out of the window! Starting today, you can check out thousands of LPs and CDs at the second and third floor: the CDs for one euro, CD singles for 25 cents and the vinyl goes for 1 or 2 euros.

Why, you might ask, are these guys so very generous? Well, it’s mainly because, come June, we’re moving to a brand new venue at Walpoortstraat 3, the former Artifex gallery, and we really don’t feel like moving all of it over there. So be sure to stop by for some low-priced stuff, from Wednesday ’till Saturday during the next three weeks!

The website from Music Mania is ‘alive’ again and it has a small explanation of what the future plans are.

The Mania, together with Charlies Records Fair, go for a temporary reopening of the shop. They hope to find the right balance between second hand and new releases (mainly vinyl). The shop is open every Thurday, Friday and Saturday between 11:30 and 18:30 until September 13, 2008. After this period they will decide if it is still possible to run a independent record store in Ghent.

This is what you can expect from the Mania New Style. Every week there is;

-a fresh selection of new releases in the Mania Style

-new stocks of second hand records from Charlies Records Fair

-further sales of the Mania stock, because you ain’t seen everything yet!

There is certainly a lot of vinyl in the shop now. The fresh stocks from Charlies Records Fair look very promising.

In the end it all comes down to the customers, so visit the shop and come back here and leave your comments.

Your favorite record store reopens temporarily with a summer record fair. So expect new and second hand vinyl and cd’s, collectors items and a lot of bargains.

Expect some fresh faces in the shop as Lorin and Karel will provide a lot of the goodies. I had the opportunity to look in some boxes of records and there were some serious good records in there.

So let’s get some discussion going. What do you think of the new set-up? Any other comments?

The Mania sales are still a big success, so the team decided to open the shop in May also. Expect a lot of new supplements with crazy low prices. Also expect a load of metal cd’s, a huge amount of dance vinyl and -surprise surprise- for all you vinyl freaks there is a small selection of new and recent releases on sale too!

Last Saturday (March, 29 2008) was the last day of the Mania Gent Clearance Sales. Thousands and thousands of records and cd’s were sold since the re-opening in December. To all the faithful costumers the Mania Team says “A Big Thank You”.

The next question was ‘what to do with the records and cd’s that are still left?’ The original plan was a final opening weekend during Easter the Pentecostal holiday but yesterday I received an e-mail from Jan -the Boss- van Regenmortel with the following message.
“I just visited the attic in the store and there is a lot of stuff that has not been for sale for a very long time. To open the store for one weekend is not enough to get it sorted. What do you think of a different plan and open the shop on Friday and Saturday for the rest of April, excluding coming weekend (April 4 and 5, 2008).”
A meeting of the Mania team is scheduled for tomorrow.

What do you think? Should the Mania be open for three weekends in April or should they stick to the original plan and just open during Easter the Pentecostal holiday? And no, it is not an April fool’s joke…

Ondanks het feit dat jullie in grote getale onze laatste uitverkoopdagen hebben bezocht hebben we nog steeds een deel van de oude stock
niet kunnen uitstallen. Het is daarom dat we besloten hebben om ook in april nog een paar keer open te doen en dit op volgende dagen:

vrij 25 & za 26
telkens van 13 tot 18u

Just when you thought it was over, the jokers from Mania Gent have another trick up their sleeves. It looks like a good deal for the customers, though….

This is the message that was posted on their Mania site tonight:

You will be suprised that there is still stock from all the Mania Stores in the basement and the attic and the stuff we found in sealed boxes everywhere.

We discovered loads of stuff in the dusty, hidden corners of the shop that you haven’t seen yet –and we did not know of either and had not seen in years–.

That is why Mania Gent has decided to stay open in March.

It is cash & carry time! All cd boxes and record sleeves for sale are filled. There’ll be no long lines at the counter, we hope.

We fill the bins every day with ‘new’ stuff, so check back regularly.

A new message appeared on the Mania Gent site half an hour ago. As you can read below this weekend is the last opportunity to buy records and cd’s at a massive discount of 67%. The bargain bins on the groundfloor with prices starting at €1 are filled with new cd’s and records.
